I'm slowly getting started on my 1927 Capitol 1 ton. I was using the hand crank to keep everything lubed up and noticed that the push rods were not moving. I suspected the fiber gear was stripped. I pulled the crank pulley and took off the timing cover. I was right; the fiber crankshaft gear was stripped. After I pulled the crankshaft gear, the steel camshaft gear basically fell off. I noticed it had a larger groove in the rear portion of the gear. My question: "Is this normal or does it need replaced?" I have the 13/16 gears; is it possible to replace them with a steel crankshaft gear and a fiber camshaft gear? I have several things to do before I try to start it, maybe even a rebuild. All help is greatly appreciated.

For more viewing, you should probably post the above in the 1912-1928 forum instead of here in the "New To Chat" forum.

No problem! However, it takes awhile to learn about the different forums on Chevy Chatter II. Just wanted to bring it to your attention that you would be better off posting the question regarding your 1927 in the 1912-1928 forum. That way more dudes that have cars of that era will view your posting and they will be able to help you with you question.

Good luck and have fun surfing around on Chevy Chatter II.
