Whenever the driver's side dooor lock is pressed down, it takes an act of congress to get the door unlocked. The button will not pull up far enough to unlock the door. I have to work with the key and the button at the same time, forever, to get the door unlocked.

This may be related: The inside door handle does not engage until it is nearly at the end of its travel.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Sound like there's a small spring broke in the latch. Take the door latch out of the door & look for a small spring. Might be laying at the bottom of the door....Joe

On G.M.door latches there is a lock out arm within the latch.Push the lock button fully down, hit the outside handle a few times with a rubber hammer to enable the arm to return to a neutral position, and lift the lock button. An inactive inner handle usually indicates this problem.freely lube the latch.Raise and lower the lock button multiple times as it is connected to the lock arm.Hope this helps.
