I was wondering if any one out there might be able to help me in regards to the wood in the doors of my 32 4 door Confederate. The wood seems to be terrific shape however it's loose or should I say its not glued anymore! This allows the door to change its shape and doesn't fit nicely to the car body contour. Someone has mentioned to me that there is a liquid glue that will saturate the wood and bond the wood together again. If anyone can give me some ideas of what to buy or do, I would appreciate it. Thank you and have a nice Xmas.

There are a number of sources for the product that will soak into the road and harden it. I bought some at a building supply place and they called it "wood petrifier". It should be a very watery liquid so it will soak into the wood.

I have had success squirting it into the ***** holes for the door hinges, as well as on the outer surfaces. You will have to figure out what you are going to use to hold the liquid so it can be injected into the wood.

Good luck.........David

Further to my previous reply, the wood petrifier will firm up the wood pieces but I don't think it is a glue to glue the parts together. There is a glue called "chair doctor" that is available from a Canadian company called Lee Valley that can be injected into the joints to glue them together. It may be what you need.

A few years ago I used a very high viscosity material (watery like) to saturate and glue wood. It was in a two part mix. The manufacturer did supply a "powder' to allow you ad it to the mix and thicken as you wanted. The stuff worked fantastic fo me.I could even tape and tread holes in the stuff.

I think it is advertised in Hemmings, or use to be in Hemmings. It was labeled "Kwik Poly". The phone number on the container is 714 327-8450. Don't know if the number or area is now correct. The address is K-P Distributing Inc. P.O. Box 1233 O'Fallon MO 63366. I liked the stuff.
