ND 0208 Differential side bearing for 1929 Chevrolet:
Filling Station - $95 ea.
Olcar Bearing Co. (North Carolina) - $46 ea.

It pays to shop around.

Speaking of shopping around, I've had real good luck with my local NAPA store. They tend to stock more old stuff than the other chain stores, although they didn't carry the brake drums for my 51--got em at Auto Zone. Amazing.

Rock Auto was real good for wheel cylinders. $22.00 and up.

CARQUEST seems to have a lot of parts at "normal" rather than antique prices. I went through their parts book with one of the guys looking for brake parts and bearings. They had to get some stuff from their warehouse, but it's only about five miles away.

TIMKEN Bearing also has loads of bearings and seals going way back.

Bear in mind that these people need to make some profit in order to stay in business. If you needed a nice set of interior handles for a '37 sedan where else are you going to find those other than FS, or Gary Wallace, or Stanleys, or Chevs of the 40s, or Idas, you fill in the blank. If you won't help them with their overhead by buying other parts now and then, how can you complain when they go away FOREVER. These people are a wealth of information about old CORRECT parts and their installation, and we as their focused consumers need to keep them around.

Its good to patronize good vendors , but thats no excuse for them not to be competitive. They need to make their profit by providing a needed service at a fair and competitive price. If they are unable to do so then they need to go the way of the dinosaur.

It is also important that we support our local vendors. They save us lots of time and money as well as give us good service.
