Help,
My 60's motor is in the shop, but I got a few parts back for my motor and painted them. I bought OER Original Equipment Reproduction Paint from Classic Industries. It is supposed to be correct Chevy blue for 51 to 62 but when I sprayed them, it made me think of F@&# blue!
As it dried It's a very nice color but I always thought lighter blue green was correct. I spent a lot of $$ for paint, but would like my car correct. I see Krylon has Chevy Blue (dark) and GM blue (lighter) I found Mike's Chevy parts on Ebay has blue green color closer to what I thought was correct.
I can't seem to find any photos on line of 235's. I'll have to go through some old photos and magazines Thanks for any suggestions

The original blue was a vivid medium dark blue.

Go to the Chevrolet Tarrytown factory source;life site.

Hi Gene,

Thanks again for the help, great photos! interesting the exhaust manifolds on the 283's are fully painted orange.

I'm thinking the paint I have is right on and I agree with your description, it is a vivid medium dark blue.

Thanks again your always a great help

The exhaust manifolds on all engines were installed before the engine was painted. By the time the engine was run for more than five minutes the paint burnt off and there was natural rust. I drove a lot of new 1950's and burnt the paint off the manifolds while driving the cars to the storage area (Wisconsin State Fair Park) to await conditioning.
