I'm adding an oil filter to my 235 in my 60 Impala. I've seen black and also blue with orange top. Unit I have was a grayish color(came from a Canadian car)

For a GM AC filter the filter would be painted all black and with ivory lettering around the top of the lid - if the filter was factory installed.
If the filter was dealer installed the canister was the bright blue and the lid orange. The lettering on the lid was bright blue.
The decal for the ivory lettering is usually available from the vendors the specialize in the 1955 and up parts as the filter on the 1955 V-8 would be the same color(s)

Thanks Gene, I thought black was correct, I painted it black looks great now I will need to find the decal I bought a year ago, you'd never know it was a trashy crud covered unit I started with.
