Hi. We've recently purchased a 1935 Chevrolet 5 window coupe with suicide doors, 1963 327 and speed trans :p . The frame appears to be a combination of 1950 1/2 ton front clip, Ford 8" rear end, and partial original frame with original wood in good condition. The front sits very high and the frame rails extend past the front fenders, looking mighty ugly. Is there a good choice for a total frame swap that willl work with this body style or should we go to a particular street rod frame mfg?

I think for right now it's a bit too far gone to restore it back to original. We'd like to get the car road worthy and work on it a little at a time. I know absolutely zero about the 30's Chevy's but have been a street rodder for some time. Right now I'd like to straighten out the mess the frame is in. The body, interior and drive line are in decent shape but the front wheels aren't lined properly in the wheel openings...4-5" too far forward and the car sits too high.

Took a look at the TCI website and it appears they cater to 37 and up Chevy's and most Fords. No mention of anything prior to 37

Yeah, and you can probably sell all that old "original stuff" ( the springs that stick out in front and are so ugly) etc., etc....... Good luck on your "Restoration!", keep us posted!

The front frame is NOT the original frame. I'm told that it's from a 1950 1/2 ton Chevy pickup, hence the huge...ugly frame rails sticking out.

Thanks Don
I'm Dennis, Shelley's my wife. We're anxious to get on this project. Found Butch's Rod Shop in Ohio has a frame set up for about $1500. The body is all metal, 327 burns a bit of oil and needs freshening. The guy we got it from installed a home made grill...aluminum with flame cutouts. New radiator and brakes are on the plus side but he also installed sidepipes and I HATE sidepipes with running boards.
Being new to this, expect dumb questions, like, did the 5 window busnessmans coupe actually come with suicide doors?
Anyway, thanks for the invite and good to meet you all.

Yeah! Just make sure you can bolt a big old Bowtie emblem over that "custom grill" I like the one on front of our 2001 Tahoe, It is an aftermarket job that lights up!
Oh! Donald, I don't have a bugle I use my 12 volt Dixie air horns I got from J.C. Whitney a few years back when my girl played in the Robert E. Lee Rebel Marching Band.

nope...it's going back to the original grill when I find one. Maybe you should think about putting a 35 grill on the Tahoe?

Hey guy, I thought you always went up when rodding a car, not back. I wouldn't have a clue where I can find a 35 grill, but I did see a 57 Fury with a Toyota or was it a Nisson v/6 don't remember which,I've got CRS , It looked lonely in that big old engine room.

Steer horns, running boards, lowered and chopped, maybe a blower sticking out of the hood....with a load of manure in the back just for kicks.
