Trying to find out if '65 and '66 Horns are exactly the same on Full Size Chevys, including the Mounting Brackets.

None of my books could produce an answer.

Neil,

Appreciate the reply. I found some Horn numbers in my Chevy book too, but a note under it stated something like "Mounting Brackets may have to be changed to fit". I then tried to look up "Brackets" or "Mounting Brackets" and couldn't find anything. My book may be too new ('74). I also have a '38 to '65 book, but not quite good enough to compare to a '66. I also have 3 '65 parts cars, but as luck would have it all 3 are missing the horns.

This was taken from a '67 book. No mention of brackets in it. I worked for Chrysler and I know that replacements are different from originals, so I can't say for sure if they are the same on GM's with any certainty. I tried. It lists the same numbers for Camaro, Chevelle, and Chevy II 1962-67.

The horns with the numbers above were universal replacements. The box came with two brackets and a large nut to attach the bracket to the horn (at different angles).

The 65 and the 66 here seem to have exactly the same horns.

Regarding full-size horns, the OEM numbers for horns can be found in the assembly manual for that particular year and model of Chevy. The numbers in the manual do correspond with the stamped numbers on the horns, and they also have a stamped date code. The '65 horns did carry over into '66, but at least one of them (I'm not sure if it's the low or high note) was also used in '64.
