I have a 1930 3 window coupe.I removed the gas tank several months ago to clean inside and out and paint.I have done this. now I am ready to install the tank.I have forgotten how the gas tank is mounted.I know where the gas filler neck goes because the cover that goes on later has a hole where the fill neck come though. My question is does the tank get pulled up to come in contact with the frame cross section or does somthing go beteween the tank and frame. The two gas tank straps seam way to long.I have them hooked in the lower lip the cross frame rail right across from the mounting holes
Thanks Chris

Since you have already posted several times previously on Chevy Chatter II, and also for better coverage regarding your question, you might want to post your question in the 1929-32 forum instead of here in the "New To Chat" forum. This forum is for the new members to ask their very first question if they don't know what forum to post it in.

The tank mounts directly under the rear cross member, held in place by the two straps. It is metal to metal but you can add a few strips of roofing felt if desired. Just make sure that the tank is grounded to the frame with path back to the battery. If the fuel sender is not grounded the gauge will not work correctly.
