Hello,

Tonight I was charging the battery out of the 34, its new just has been dead for about 4 years. Any way I wanted to use it to check out the wiring which I'm working on in the 34. I noticed after some time that there was a strange noise coming from the battery, almost like water boiling. Is that normal?

No, that's not normal...

Your battery fluid will BOIL if it is too low in one or more cells, or if you have a full charge on it for too long. Both cases are bad for it. The hydrogen gas that is emitted is VERY DANGEROUS.

1) Make sure that ALL cells are all the way up to their full markings.
2) Make sure that the charger's amperage drops down after it runs for a while.

If the battery was "dead" for four years, then it might be toast and you're at risk trying to charge it at all.

If the battery has been dead for 4 years , it will probably be
sulphated up, and the charging current cannot get through the sulphate layer.
If you wish to keep a lead acid battery in storage , it is neccessary to keep it charged with a battery minder, and check the electrolyte level every month or so.

Junk the battery, especially if it is a Delco.
