I have a 31 Cabriolet

I am losing transmission oil through the speedometer cable connection.
should any oil be coming out of the transmission at that conection? should there be an internal seal in the trans?

Make a felt seal that looks like a doughnut with the center hole large enough for the shaft to fit through and outside diameter the same and the ID of the collar. Make it thick enough to fill the cavity when the cable is attached to the transmission. If you use the proper viscosity transmission lubricant it will not leak.
