Hi Guys,
I'm restoring a 1931 roadster and looking for the rumble seat setup. Rumble Lid, hinge mounts, seat, and the rear panel between rumble lid and gas tank panel.
Also the panel between the rumble seat and front seat where your knees would be if you are seated in the rumble seat (the panel where the soft top rests on if top is folded down).

Where would I find these parts?

Thanks, Awie

If you are phenomenally lucky you might find some of those parts. Likely you will need to find someone to reproduce those parts. I had three rumble seat lids fabricated about 20 years ago and the part between rumble lid and front seat back fabricated 30+ years ago. I reproduced the hinge parts myself and believe that Snyders's http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/ has the reproduction seat springs.

Might try Bow-Tie Reproductions http://www.bowtiereproductions.com/ and ask Dale if he knows of anyone reproducing or willing to reproduce those parts.

Thanks Chipper,

How would you rate the fibreglass lid from Filling Station?

Never seen one! I personally have not had great experience with fiberglass reproductions. The larger parts tend to warp, dish or otherwise need filler to make them fit and look correctly.

For my 31 coupe I bought the two seat springs and the wood frame for the rumble seat back from Hampton Coach. They all worked well for the car. One other thing, I bought a new set of rumble seat hinges from the Filling Station.

On occasion, a deck lid comes up on ebay, in the 500-1000. range.
Also, they sometimes come up at Hershey. I scored a beauty for 10.00 (yes 10. not mistype!) at Hershey 3 years ago. I know it will never happen again in my lifetime.

Unfortunately the Coupe and Cabriolet rumble seat lids, springs, hinges are not the same as the Roadster. Make sure that you get the correct parts.

Did'nt know that. thanks will keep in mind.

I'm looking for these parts for a good 10 years now and no luck. Is there any drawings out there so that I can repro the parts myself?

The coupe and cabriolet bodies were made by Fisher Body Company. The roadster body was made by Chevrolet.

Your looking for a rumble lid SKIN, roadsters had a wood structure in them. If you can get a 32 roadster skin from Bow-tie, you can make one. You might try calling Ralph McEowen. Coupes and Cabriolets had a metal structure in them.

Filling Station does have the hinges.
Believe roadster lid is framed in wood and cab lid is all metal, but may want to check with the "experts" in this forum on that.

The hinges that the Filling Station has are for a Coupe and Cabriolet. They are very different.

My 1930 Sport Coupe has the rumble seat framed in wood and the Master Parts Price List dated August 1, 1931 lists these as deck side rails (page 177)

The 1930 coupe is different! The 1930 rumble lid for the coupe was framed in wood, but the rumble lid for the 1931 and 1932 coupe and carbriolet was all steel.
