Jim, I have a 35 Standard Coupe. My front axle has what they called "light duty spindles". Ineed to find a solid front axle that is 28 inches from spring center to spring center. I'm wondering if a 35 truck might have just that axle. Do you have an axle that would meet my needs? leiba1.

Jim, do you have a '32-'36 3-speed synchromesh transmission case suitable for use in a '36 pickup? It has lugs on the sides for bolting on the e-brake handle and the pedal/MC support.
Thanks.

Thank you for responding to my inquiry Jim. Yes, it is just the case I need. The casting number of the case I need is 590532. I was very surprised when I checked a dealer parts book and saw that this transmission case was used in many vehicles from 1932 through 1936. The street rod guys out there are probably using these for flower planters.
The three speed transmission in my '36 pickup was assembled from parts when I restored the truck in the mid 1970s and I know from doing that that some parts simply don't like each other.
For example, I used a NOS first/reverse sliding gear and it was very noisy. Substituting in a good used gear eliminated the noise.
The present problem is that this transmission, asembled in the mid 1970s, has never shifted properly from 2nd to 3rd when fully warmed up. This is despite all new synchronizers properly shimmed to the middle of the 0.025"-0.035" end play specification, a new clutch sleeve and good synchronizer teeth on the input shaft, new shift forks and various oil viscosities, 90,90-140,140 and most recently so called 600W from the Filling Station. The heavier oil produces the best results, but the problem persists.
I would like to try another gear set that has always been together to rule out the parts incompatibility issue. Towards that end I just bought a complete '36 Master car transmission on ebay for a mere $36 from a VCCA member and now need a truck case to put the internals into. It didn't even have to be shipped because he is a neighbor.
By the way, do you know of an available '37-'39 Chevy driveshaft ("propeller" shaft)?
Thank you again for your interest in my project. If you send me your email address I will send you a picture of my pickup. The 35 year old restoration still looks presentable.
Thanks again Jim.

Jim, is that 590715 cast on the transmission case, top cover or u-joint housing/rear mount casting? If this is a transmission out of a 1/2 ton pickup it should have 2 threaded lugs on the right side for the e-brake handle to bolt to and 2 threaded lugs on the left side for the pedal/master cylinder mounts. Does it have those?
It is the Chevy Master/pickup 3-speed transmission case I'm looking for. Maybe if you sent a picture of what you have there I will recognize it.
Thank you for helping me.
