seams to be several methods that GM used for window anti rattle. My 37 coupe uses rubber plugs in the door with fuzzy screwed to window opening garnish. I've probably seen this more than anything. My 38 uses a roller assembly inside and out attached to the door with no beltline fuzzy. although I am missing one of these, are they typical of 38? What models used fuzzies and which used rollers. Was there really and standard system?

My 38 business coupe has rubber buttons in the door with the fuzzy sweep attached to the garnish molding. I guess I don't understand what you mean by roller assembly inside and out. The window regulator assembly has a roller that moves the window up and down. The front and rear (extends over the top) channels are "fuzzy" lined. Are you saying your 38 doesn't have that type of channel? I'm so confused. laugh

Tiny, Did you replace the rubber buttons. Mine are hard as nails and I have been wondering for some time as to whether or not replacements are available. Beamer

Mine came in a kit from Chevs of the 40s but they also sell them individually as does The Filling Station.

Tiny, Possibly these rollers are only used on a cabriolet. That is one thing I am trying to find out. The new rubber for them is in all of the catalogues.

It seems to me that the rollers were something you could buy at Western Auto, etc., to mount with a screw on the inside moulding to keep your windows from rattling. As best as I can recall, they were about a half inch in diameter, or a little less, and had a mounting bracket with an elongated hole. As the rubber wore down, you could adjust the roller tighter to the glass. I had these on several old cars when I was younger but somewhere along the line, I just never saw them anymore. Beamer

Beamer: You are absolutely right, and I have some new old stock rollers in my collection of parts.

JunkYardDogJunkYardDog, Thanks for your confirmation. After I made my posting, I got to wondering if what I was thinking was an old age trick or if the rollers actually existed so I called my brother-in-law in FL to ask him about them. He owned a body shop here in Rochester for a hundred years or so, took it over from his father, and now restores F**d's in his home garage. He remembers the window anti-rattle rollers well. He said when the rubber on them wore down significantly he would take them apart a put a short length of fuel line hose on them. He used that because it was ribbed sort of like the original rollers. With your confirmation and his recall of the rollers, I am confident that despite my advancing years my memory is still intact!! Beamer

The rollers I'm talking about are not the aftermarket type. The door has mounting depressions for them and they have to be installed prior to glass installation. I'll bet someone can come up with a GM part no.

The rollers were used on Chevrolets for many years and models. I know some 30s and the mid-50s hardtops used them. Have not checked recently and my memory is not as good as it once was.
