Hi Guys,

I have a couple of pitman arms in my spares that I can not trace in the Chev 4 parts book. Would appreciate if any one could identify. They are 344839 and 352758, and they appear to be identical. Any help most welcome.

Regards

Ray

Looks like I have to reply to myself, as 82 views and not one response

Not in my 28 parts book.

Is it possible the numbers are casting numbers rather than part numbers?

These parts most probably relate to right hand drive which is why they do not appear in parts list for the USA. I no longer have the 28 RH supplement but will keep it in mind. The number given are cast part numbers. I will have to crawl under my 28 and see what it says.

I could not find them in my GM-Australia parts listing of 1931 which covers all active parts at that time.

Ray.
I could find no different part numbers for LHD or RHD pitman arms. These are the part numbers i have.
344842 Arm ,Pitman - S,Ut,C(K,R,V,X,AA,LM,LO)
354415 Arm ,Pitman - C,N,I,U,Ind, (AB,LP)
551525 Arm, Pitman - S,Ut,(F,H,M)
342446 Arm Pitman - , with worm gear , washer and nut-S.Ut, RHD

RHD steering case is listed for I,U, as well as RHD worms(S,Ut, C,N,I,U) and worm gears (N,I,U) .

Yeh Jack,

I have the same numbers. Its a mystery, as the splines fit the 28 box, and if push came to shove could be used on a 27 or 28. The only difference is a slight angle and length variance.

Unless their off a buick or other GM???

Thanks for your posting.

Regards

The pitman arm is interchangeable between LHD and RHD as when I had my accident in my LHD coach the pitman arm was wrapped around under the chassis and I replaced successfully with a RHD one. Re Rays comment on different pitman arms, I had over 20 in my spares and no two were exactly the same. Some were bent off the vertical when looking front on and some when looking side on.
