Charlie... I honestly thought of you when I posted that photo first! The OPP still have a restored coupe at their museum in Orillia, Ont. Here's another B&W... Dealership in 1951, Plymouth, Michigan. On the assembly line, 1949

This is from someone else's blog... I wasn't sure if it's really an Amesbury Special, but it's neat because its a 1915! I thought the Amesburys were all white...a repaint? "Taken on or about September, 1948 in the original showroom of Dooley Brothers Chevrolet/Oldsmobile in Somerville, New Jersey. On the left, a brand-new 1949 Chevrolet sedan and, on the right, a 1915 Chevrolet Amesbury Special. The second ever Chevrolet dealership in the New York area known then as the Newark zone. Pictured left to right: Harry Dooley III, Harry Dooley Jr., and Harry Dooley (standing next to his brother) Michael Bernard Dooley, Bernard Michael Dooley, and (on the fender) Lawrence Michael Dooley, age almost one. Submitted by the guy on the fender." -- Lawrence Michael Dooley Location: Somerville, New Jersey"

I think the big thing about this picture is the "Rear wheel road sanding attachment" and sand supply bin. Notice the snow!

Those hoses are for the air brakes on the semi-trailer the tractor is usually connected to via the fifth wheel. One hose is service air and the other is trailer brake air. They are connected to the trailer by connectors known in the trade as a "Gladhand connector".

I have that very same sign on the garage wall next to the vette. The guy that designed the split-window is Peter Brock, (still vertical!) and an interesting history in car design/racing ... search peter brock or bre or Brock Racing Enterprises

Brewster, You mention white rear fenders in the "first" picture in the thread. That made me curious so I went back and looked and it looks like the cars are all white, except for the black hoods. As I looked at it again, I was reminded of what I thought when I first saw it --- "that's a pretty weird way to two-tone a 41 coupe!" These most recent pictures with white body and black fenders seem like a more "normal" way to two-tone that body style. Just my 2 cents.....

Ed: "Okay fellas... How are we going to sell these beautiful new '53's??" Jim: "Well Ed, I say we take one top of the line model, and surround it with five top of the line models, and roll it on out there!" Ed: "Jim... I like the cut of your jib!"

I still don't have the hang of posting pix; but this link to a 1951 photo shows several Chevys and Buicks. One of the Chevys is among my favorites. Another one is missing the..... http://theoldmotor.com/?p=27340Bill.

Was this photo taken before Johnny got the role as Tarzan? Buster Crabbe was Tarzan for a while there. Charlie
