Hi Guys

As I understand it 27's had the same colum mounted steering lock and ignition switch as a 28.

And the 26 had the ignition switch in the dash gauge????

I have a steering colum in my spares with a 16 tooth gear, which I believe was used in 26 Superior V models and 27 Capital AA models, but the steering colum has no lock, and no provision for one.

Could it be a 26?

Dont think it would be a commercial or truck as it has the remains of the hand control fittings through the colum.

Apart from the smaller box and gear, the bracket at the bottom of the box that holds the hand control rods, bolts onto the cover plate, which is different to the 28.

I can read a part number on the housing being 34425? ( cant read last digit)

Any ideas

Regards

Ray

Number 344259 is steering gear main shaft for 1928 1/2 ton truck.

Hi Antique Mechanic,

Yes that it correct, but the 5 digit number I listed is from the casing, not the main shaft.

And unless I am mistaken, the 16 tooth steering box gear was only used on Superior and Capital models

Regards
