I need to remove the trim that seperates the vinyl top from the painted area on the side of the truck to repair a couple of rust bubble area's. I am not sure how it is attached, and I don't want to damage it. Picture attached

Leon,
Most of that style trim is held on by plastic clips that are attached to a stud welded to the panel. The clip slips onto the stud. The molding is snapped in place into grooves in the sides of the clip and can be unsnapped by carefully prying the molding up toward you. If you can find a listing for the clip you can tell for sure. Checking with a repro part supplier can also identify the type of clip used.

I had a 70 EC and that trim is very flimsy. Better check first with Eckler's, or other catalogs for the replacement piece. Most likely you will bend or kink the piece.

Chipper and RG, the first thing I did was check for replacment parts. I have not found any. That is why I do not want to experiment. I hope to hear from some one that has been there, done that.

RGwhiz, I checked Eckler's again and found the mouldings. $97.99 a pair, plus shipping. All the more reason to find out the proper way to remove them. Thanks
Cleon

OK! The trim is off, the rust spots are cleaned up and the POR 15 is drying. The trim is held on as Chipper described. I finally got brave and took the screw driver to it this morning, and it popped off with out any damage.
