Would anyone know the correct finish and color of the brake power booster for 1966 Chevy II/Nova?
I have acquired a used unit for my '66 wagon and it is painted gloss black, which I'm guessing is incorrect.
I think it is a Bendix, but not 100% sure. Thank you. Jeff
Hi Jeff, If it is a Bendix it should be black with approx 60-70% gloss. The Delco-Moraine boosters were gold cad finish with subtle variations of gold-silver. The Bendix boosters were slightly smaller in diameter and had a smooth front face while the Delco-Moraine units had what look like 3 soft large dimples on the front face. I have yet to see a factory original '65-'70 Bendix booster in any other finish than black. Also,Bendix used a 2 letter paint stamped code easily visible on booster itself. Hope this helps,Jim

No visible paint code stamps -- probably under some of the paint. Also found a copy of the installation instructions for installing an accessory Bendix unit. Feel lucky to have found that. I will try to post a picture of the booster and the instructions. Thanks to everyone for their input. Jeff http://vcca.org/forum/ubbthreads.php/galleries/180489#Post180489
