I am just about ready to paint the refurbished steering wheel for my '34. I did not find any discussion with the search feature so I am wondering what some of you have used to paint yours. I used JB weld to fill the small cracks and have sanded the entire wheel with 100 grit. I will be doing final sanding down to 220 then am not sure what the best paint would be to use. I would prefer a semi-gloss as I don't like the high gloss I have seen on some cars. Thanks ahead for your replies.
I have painted a steering wheel and it held up well, the trick is to solvent clean well and then I washed it down again with TSP. You can get flattener for most any paint that you add during mixing.

I have a 1931 hard rubber wheel that was getting my hands black whenever moisture got near it. I just lightly sanded, used some cleaning solvent and painted directly (no primer) with black lacquer. That was many years ago (~8 or so). So far is holding up just fine.
