1956 235 truck block #3764476 head # 3836848 in a 42 3/4t panel

just had it rebuilt and put in hydraulic lifters
at low idle oil shoots about 1 inch plus out the rocker holes
i can't adjust lifters while running oil goes everywhere
oil gage reads about 40 pounds
is this right?
can i adjust lifters cold?

Were the lifter bores factory drilled with oil passages for the hydraulic lifters that you installed ?????????

been doing a little looking on the web
looks like this block was made for solids
when it was rebilt a hydraulic cam was used
so it looks like the cam and lifters have to be changed
what do you think?

A perfect example of "Original is the only way to go".

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Use the solid lifter cam and solid lifters is my thought. If the block does not have the oil passage I spoke of above, it won't work correctly.
