I'm looking at an SS for sale. Is there any way to tell if it's a real SS, Or a fake. 69-72 ss was an option. no way to tell from vin#. I got this from year one. there's no motor, Andlooks to have big block springs. Did the plain Janes come with big blocks also? I do realize you can put springs in too. Thanks for any help George

In 1969 the El Camino SS came with a 396 engine, black-out grille, grille and tail gate had SS396 emblems, Also had the power dome hood, 14" X 7" wheels, chrome mouldings on the lower body feature line, power disc brakes, wheel opening mouldings and SS tail gate mouldings. If the mentioned mouldingd are not there the clip /mounting holes at least should be if its a true SS396.
