1929 Chevys did not have shocks. 1930 is the first year for hydralic shocks

Even though your 1929 might need rear shock absorbers, if you install a set of stock 1930 rear shock absorbers you might not notice much difference because of their type of construction. If your 1929 needs rear shock absorbers that badly, you might want to look at installing a more modern type of shock absorber that will do a better job of dampening the road vibrations and etc.

I fitted modern type shockers on the rear of my 28 some 30 years ago, made a real difference.

Cheers

Ray

I have documented my 38 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2012. The highs, the lows, the good and the bad. Let me know what you think of it. Your comments are most welcome. Can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Do you have some pictures? I am trying to add shock this summer. Our city roads toss the car all over the place and with aggressive drivers, it makes for a scary ride. I need to tame the beast so to speak.

And a big thank you to Ray for some inspiration on fitting modern shocks to the rear of my 28. After a quick trip to the USA to buy shocks (Canadian prices are insane), the total cost to install them was under $50. I have only gone around the block, but the car no longer gets tossed all over the place. My wife will be ecstatic and driving traffic will be a whole lot more enjoyable. I do realize this is not original, but if the car is no fun to drive, and people are scared to drive with you, there is no point in owning it.

Pics to be posted shortly
