I have a stone guard on my '31. The bowtie emblem fits into a bracket that is connected to the radiator housing by a hex head screw. That screw is as tight as it can go, but the back plate still wobbles and so the bowtie emblem is always crooked.
I began to loosen the bracket but got scared and stopped because I can't see if that screw goes into a nut someplace in the back where I can't see it and by removing the screw, the nut will fall into some "black hole" and I'll never see it again! If I knew I could safely remove the screw then all I would need to do is put a washer behind it and it'll tighten up.
Can someone tell me how that backplate and screw are attached?
