Can someone tell me how much free play there should be in the steering wheel? I've disconnected the drag link from the pitman arm & have made an adjustment to remove the backlash between the worm & sector gear. Right now there is probably less tha a 1/4" free play in pitman arm but more than that amount of play in the steering wheel. Is there anything else that can be done? I've replaced the sector & bearings in the steering box

Also, I recently purchased what I believe was a complete steering column assembly that supposely was from a '31. When disasembled everything looked the same as the orginal. The only diference is my steering wheel doesn't fit on the shaft. Other than that everything else appears to be the same. Could this possibly be out of a ' 32?

As always any info would be appreciated.

Steering wheel free play of an inch or two is normal for a '31 Chevy. I have never found one that has near zero.

If the shaft is smaller than our original '31 then the steering column is most likely from a early Chevrolet Standard.
