Another late correction. We're wondering about this:

STEERING
Type..............................Worm-and sector
Ratio..............................12.0:1
Turning circle....................20 feet (right)

20 feet seems pretty darn tight for this car...

Okay, here is the skinny:

Type: Semi-reversible, worm and sector
Ratio: 12 to 1
Steering wheel turns, lock to lock: 2.6
Minimum Turning Diameter (approx.), Passenger cars: R.H. 39', L.H. 40 1/2'.

Skippy-your feet are off - that would be a 80 foot turning circle \:\(

Negative Chev Nut...we are talking the DIAMETER of the turning circle to the left and the DIAMETER of the turning circle to the right.

You told "Proscriptus" the following: "That turning circle seems awfully tight. Chevgene, you emailed me "Turning RADIUS right 20", left 20 1/2"." Is this right?"

You replied: Yes, that is correct -20 feet EACH WAY. Total 40 1/2 feet.

The figures that you gave Proscriptus are for the radius.....which is HALF of the DIAMETER.

According to the Chevrolet Engineering Specifications, Sheet Number 14, Dated 3-1-32, they state the following: Minimum Turning DIAMETER is 39 RH and 40 1/2 LH. The diameter is twice the radius. If you take your radius figures and multiply by two, you get the same MINIMUM TURNING DIAMETER as stated by the Chevrolet Engineering Specifications of 1932. In short, that would be a turning circle of 40 1/2' LH and a turning circle of 39' RH.

Ha ha! So, each duplicate posting above equals one radius, and if you add both postings together you have the diameter!
