Hi all, once again I am in need of help with my 51 Chev. I want to install turn signals. I have a Guide #6004 turn signal unit that I will be using. A "Google search" turned up no information on how to wire this unit so I will turn, once again, to the wisdom of the VCCA members. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or can provide the information to install and wire up a Guide 6004 turn signal switch?

Thanks in advance, Don

Almost all of the old aftermarket turn signal units use the same wiring diagram. There were two basic styles - 5-wire and 7-wire:

7-wire:

Hi 38Chev,

I just comleted the install on my 1940 Town Sedan, I used all new cloth covered wiring. I abandoned the old wiring in place for the parking lights and tail lights, mounted the flasher unit on the Fire wall. All works well and am very happy with the install, all wiring is inside the coach. Only problem encounter was the diagram supplied with the unit had (2) wires crossed and I insulated the unit on the steering column which made the turn indicator inoperative (no ground) fixed that and all is great....

Thanks Bob and Wes for your input. I was hoping to find a wiring diagram specific to the Guide 6004 that I am installing. All the original wires are in place and I just need to know where to hook them up.

Regards, Don
