1930 Chev South Africa. On the dogs tail with my chev restoration. The body paint work is the next step. A lot of guys recommend powder coating but I do not know if it is the better (best)way to go. Will powder coating have a gloss finish like a good paint job? After all I try to restore the car as origional as far as possible which leads me to painting.

Items such as your frame, brake linkages, brackets, and many other parts can be powder coated (yes, it does have a gloss finish), but your body and other related sheet metal should be spray painted, not powder coated.

You can have powder coating in gloss, semi-gloss or flat. I frefer semi-gloss for chassis parts. Just what I like and I think it looks more ariginal

I took some NOS pieces to my powder coater & we matched up in the Cardinal book to 90 percent black. In the sun light & under indoor lighting it's almost perfect. 80 percent didn't reflect as good & 100 percent is too black. I don't know any of us who have a paint dip tank big enough to do it like GM did. Powder would be better than wet painting....joe
