There has been considerable communications lately on radios that are operated by control heads mounted in the dash and the tuner box on the firewall. The problem as described is an inability to coordinate the volume control cable and the connection inside the radio.
The correct way to install the cable is to insert it into the radio. Hold it engaged to the control on the inside, turn the volume knob clockwise until you feel the stops. Now remove the cable from the radio, turn the volume control as far as possible counterclockwise, reinsert the cable in the radio and secure it with the set screw. Turn the control unit clockwise until it reaches the stop. You are now coordinated.
The volume control on the inside of the radio has a cone shaped device on the end of the volume control shaft. This device guides the cable into the female part of the shaft. Once the connection is made and you turn the volume control to the clockwise limit this cone shaped device slips on the shaft and automatically sets the cable and volume control in sync.
Any other problems you can send me a PM.
Happy listening,
