I have a question about the side mirror or mirrors on the 52 Chev Bel Air. Did these cars come with one, two, or no side mirrors? Did they only come with the one rearview mirror?

I believe the person who owned the 52 before my father-in-law bought it installed one side mirror, but I just want to be sure if the car came with a side mirror.

I have some vehicle manuals, but none appear to show a side mirror. Any info you can provide will be appreciated.

Chevrolets did not come with side view mirrors as standard equipment until 1966. The exception would be trucks, sedan deliveries and convertibles from 1951 and up.

In this instance - question about outside mirrors - would the station wagon be lumped in with sedan deliveries --- or --- with passenger cars????

I'm asking about a '51 deluxe wagon, in particular.

Only the models that did not come with inside mirrors came with an outside mirror. The wagon came with an inside mirror and sedan delivery did not. I would suspect the Sdl. did not come with an inside mirror due to the smaller rear window and the fact that the cargo would have blocked the view.

The station wagon was sold, titled and licensed as a passenger car, not a truck. I speak for Ohio vehicles, back then.

The fact that it was a car or truck had nothing to do with it. Note that the convertibles previous to 1951 did not have an inside mirror due to the small back window. When the changed to the big plastic rear window in 1951 the inside mirror became standard and the outside mirror no longer standard.
