Denny Graham Registered: 12/03/06 Posts: 846 Loc: Sandwich, IL USA	This is old hat for you old timers and master mechanics but some of the new guys might be interested in the rebuild of a steering gear. Although this is a ’50 pick up the procedure should be about the same for any of them. Here are a few pictures of how I did mine. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/steering&page=3 Final assembly and adjustment will have to wait till I get the mast jacket back from my paint supplier who is mixing me a match for it and the steering wheel. '36 1/2 ton Shade Tree Mechanic Registered: 10/03/06 Posts: 33 Loc: Santa Rosa, CA	Denny, I'm a VCCA dropout now but in May 2009 G & D published some parts info I have discovered. Included is a Shell Oil grease that is a direct replacement for the discontinued GM steering gear grease. It's great to see someone else doing some machining to create unavailable parts! _________________________ Ray

I've been using and recomending Penrite Steering Box Lubricant, can't go wrong with something that is made specifically for the task at hand.
