Just checking to see opinions on the Firewall made from ABS (pre moulded schedule 80 type) material offerred by the Filling Station in the $200 range verses the $70 one offered by the National Chev Assoc.? for a 51 Fleetline. Anyone have any thoughts, or experience?
My one concern for showing the car someday, I'll bet they didn't offer ABS back in 1951.
thanks

Well the $70 firewall offered by the National Chev Assoc.arrived on Friday. Comes shipped flat and in two pieces FYI. Just a small piece cut straight through the steering coulum which must allow them to ship it in a reasonable way. The rubber plate/boot should cover the seam. It has a leather like mat black material covering about half of the lower section horizontally with cut outs for the air vents and transmission hump. The top half is the 1 inch exposed black insulation type material that covers the whole thing. They say glue it on which I may still do since it is very light weight. I'm still planning on putting on the original fasteners with punch out into the engine compartment to be true as possible. Not a bad mat and it will look very close to the original. I have been insulating underneath everything with that reynolds wrap looking insulation from Home Depot and plan to do the same with this kickboard before I glue it up too. The regulator cover didn't come with a solid leather type piece so I went to an arts store and bought a wall board that almost matches and cut one out to fit. DON'T LOOK UP UNDER MY DASH SOMEDAY!
