I recently cleaned my carb for a 71 k5 blazer, the truck that sat 5 years. I put mmo in the plug holes turned the motor. Didnt have a spark. Found why and fixed it. Now that i do have a spark i went to fire the motor up and she kicked over a second but gas blew out the top of my carburator. Looked like a blowhole. I adjusted and tried again with same result poof. looked like an exauhst cloud but was gas bursting out the top. if i keep pumping the gas it keep blowing and will stay on a second but i know this is not good. Can somebody help me. email me if u can at helton3181aaaolcm or i can give u phone number to text if somebody seriously can. Or just post thru here back to me. I really need some help with this one

Either the timing is off (wouldn/t go off by its self or an itake valve is hanging open or the timing chain jumped (if an 8 cyl.)

thats what ill look for then, but you dont think my floats in the carb or anything on it could cause that to happen?

It is caused by the spark plugs firing when and intake valve or valves are open. So either the firing is at the wrong time or the valve are open when they should not be for some reason....or a spark plug wire or two or more are mixed and attached to the wrong cylinders.

Ok that sounds right to me, i tested the spark plug wires yesterday with an ohmeter and got no readings. Dont really know why unless they are bad and broke one plug. not sure if i put the other 7 in all the way because i left them loose so i could change them easily later. By shortcutting i think i ran into more problems so im going to go get some plugs make sure if its timed right and then try again.
