Does anyone know the sequence of Chevy 6 cylinder engines when they were produced by year.

The answer is maybe. Don't know if anyone knows but I am sure between several of us we can put one together.

However, to make a complete list requires a defination of "Chevy 6 cylinder engines. If it includes built by Chevrolet, and/or General Motors then the early 6 cylinders in the Classic 6, Light 6, Little 6 would not be included. Do you want only inline or all three configurations? Also include engines up to those produced for 2006 and 2007 models?

194 1929-32,181 1933-34,207 1933-36,216 1937-53,235 1941-62,261 1954-62....These are the "stove bolt years".From 1962 and up the 194,230,250 and 292 were used for various applications. Was the "modern 7 main bearing thin wall casting engine...Then there was the Corvair,140,145 and 164 C.I. engines. All of the above were built by the Chevrolet Division of GM and installed in various Chevrolet cars and trucks.
The last Chev. passenger car to offer a straight 6 was the 1979. ;\)

These are in addition to the early 6 cyls. that Chipper mentioned.

I think that you should include the modern Trailblazer I6 and if you include the opposed six Corvair, then all the 60 and 90 degree V6s would also be included.

How about the 261 and 292 truck engines used from '63 to '86 (or later. Have not been able to look up '87 and newer).

If I had a Corvair Monza, I would have done the same thing. That '65 Pontiac 2-door hardtop was a nice car! ;\) \:D \:D \:D

I got the Monza when my Dump trucking business and my "wheeling and dealing ways" went south and I had to get out from under a lot of debt. I went to work for a road contractor and needed a good reliable "Cheap" ride, I ended up, out of debt and a used 1960 Monza, it fit the bill to a TEE, then after 100,000 miles on the odometer and a year or so later I landed a good job in the oil patch and could afford a house, a wife and a Pontiac. Oh, I just thought I could afford the wife, but she made sure.......and after 41 years and 4 offspring I am a living example of a family man.

Corvair was / is a helluva car. No Nader tree huggin' jerk here.

I never owned one. But looked and test drove many. Several buddies had 'em. All now sold except one. He's a lifer. He put an aluminum 215 Buick in it, maybe 30 years ago. Neat car!!

Bill.

Many people I knew bought one, but I never knew anyone who bought another one. That's before they were "collector cars". That tells the story...

The Corvair was a love it or hate it car.The first years, at least thru 1963 they had some mechanical problems which didn't help.By the time they had the "bugs" removed they were on their way out.The 1964-66 were the best runners.
