I bought a 1931 Chevrolet 2 door Sedan and I am told that the headlight bar is a 29 or 30 because it has three mounting holes on each side. The fenders don't appear to be patched, so I am wondering if they are a previous year. Also, the sides of the hood are flush at the back but ride high of the fender in front about 3/4 of an inch. The front latches will not raise up enought to latch. The fenders are bolted directly to the frame with nothing in between, maybe there should be spacers.
Can anyone advise?

Do you have a photo of the front of the car that you can post? That would greatly help us answer your question.

Looks to me that your whole car is a '30. Grille, hood sides etc...

It is titled as a 1931, but that is easily done. It has a re-issued Californis vin number. It would be nice to know for sure, so buying parts would be easier.
Should there bo spacers between the frame and fenders? As I said before, the back of the hood comes down to the fender but in front it is about 3/4 inch higher. You couls probably shim it up, but I would like to do what is right.

The car appears to be a 1930 with the wrong headlights and also the radiator splash apron is missing.

Agree with JunkYardDogJunkYardDog that it is '30, and headlight bar is correct for '30 (think they may have had a vertical post under each headlight), but headlight buckets for later model likely '32. As for hood fit, my '31 has about a 1/2" to 5/8" uniform gap from top of fender to lower edge of hood. I assume '30 would be similar. The fender is spaced off the frame rail by about 1/8" at front near radiator using special shim spacer, but fender is fitted snug to rail at rear near cowl. The cowl is shimmed with 3/16" shims above frame. This creates a gap between the lower edge of cowl and the splash apron of about 1/4 to 3/8" or so. Your cowl appears to sit tight to splash apron. All of this suggests that you would need to raise cowl perhaps 1/4" and also shim front of fender by 1/8" to make fender/hood gap consistent. This would also mean loosening the rad support brace and adjusting vertical alignment of rad to complete fitting of hood and make fit to rad shell and cowl trim parallel. It is also possible the rad shell is mounted a bit higher than normal for '30 as part of the rodding out process. You could just leave it the way it is and enjoy your Rod!

I am going to remount the body and fenders, can you tell me what kind of spacers or shims go where as there are apparently none now.
Or maybe point me in the right direction.
Thanks
