Did the orginal glass have any tint at all? I see glass replacement sites for antique cars offering different tints.

The Chevrolet passenger cars used safety plate glass. The edges had the black coloring and the glass has a very slight green tint when new. Was not close to what we refer to as tinted glass today. The trucks has cheaper safety sheet glass as did other low priced cars and it was "clear".
The plate glass was not wavy like the sheet glass. Due to "law" all cars used saftey plate in the windshields.
