The trim tag on 1930 doesn't indicate the assm plant. How might this be determined? How do the body numbers run? I know of at least 3 30 sedan deliveries with numbers 2615, 3489, & 3919. Could these 3 be from the same assm plant? Thanks, joe

If you are talking about the Fisher Body cowl plate with the Job Number and the Body number, the plate does indicate the assembly plant. There should be a letter prefix before the body number and that letter represents the assembly plant. For example, K 5632. The "K" would indicate the assembly plant which would be, in this case, Kansas City. However, having said that, I have seen some 1930 Fisher Body cowl plates that had the body number without the assembly plant letter designation.

By the way, the serial number plate on the passenger side main sill also indicates the assembly plant, but with a number instead of a letter.

Are the serial number plates still on the vehicles? If so, you can determine the assembly plant from the serial number.

I have seen the factory letter on the Fisher Body cowl plate on 1930's that were manufactured in December of 1929 and as late as July of 1930.

The Sedan Deliveries were a low production vehicle with the body panels were basically '28 design modified to fit the later chassis. It would not make sense to have the dies to produce the body panels in each Fisher Body plant. Same goes for the production jigs to manufacture and fit the wood frame.

So logically all the sedan delivery bodies were built in a single plant and shipped to the assembly plant as a unit. Or they all could have been built and assembled in a single plant and then shipped to the dealers from it. Either of those possibilites would make the identification of the body assembly plant unnecessary.

That is all well and good, and that makes perfect sense. However, the early 1932 sedan delivery had the same body that was used on the 1928 chassis, and the two examples that I viewed did have assembly plant code letters on their Fisher Body cowl plates. One was made in St. Louis and the other was manufactured in Oakland.
