What is the proper heater hose routing for a 51 with a core in the fresh air duct?

The hose from the water pump goes to the front lower connector on the core. The hose from the thermostat housing goes to the curved connector on the temp. valve. Short hose from straight temp. valve to rear of heater core.

Thanks Gene, A fellow member in Vermont is putting his 51 back together and mine is just beginning to be restored so you have helped us both.

Is there a way to test the temp valve to make sure it is operating before installing it?

I asked about heater control valves on 2-3-10 and recieved just about all you would want to know about them. I think it is currently on page three.

I have an accessory fuel-vacumn pump on my 50. Could anyone tell me how the lines where routed? I imagine one goes to the wiper valve on the dash but what about the other port? Does it matter which one on the pump? Did they use steel lines or hose? I have tried to find pictures of one mounted but on luck. right now I just have them plugged and am using the manifold port. Thanks guys.

The hose from the connection on the intake manifold goes around the rear of the engine to the vacuum IN connection on the double action pump, and then a hose goes from the vacuum OUT to the wiper motor. This allows the dual action pump to boost the vacuum going to yhe wiper motor when you are climbing a hill or accelerating and the intake manifold vacuum is low, this keeps the vacuum output of the dual action pump from leaking back to the intake. Then the intake manifold vacuum can run the wiper motor when the intake is produceing a lot of vacuum, without the intake vacuum from leaking back into the dual action pump. I have seen them rigged with a metal pipe behind the engine, and others with just rubber wiper hoses.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Mack. I wouldn't have figured that out. I didn't think to use them both but I guess that is why you guys are here.

johns50, Guess what? i asked the very same question here on the site maybe a year or two ago. I even ask for some pictures to be emailed to me. One of the guys emailed me pictures of the dual fuel pump as it was hooked up on his car. (I have since had a massive computer flop and lost the email article.)I had looked all over the shop manual, saw the instructions for rebuilding the pump but didn't see the way to hook it up. Since someone helped me, I thought it was only right for me to do the same....
