A Headlight bucket and reflector came with my '31 in a parts box. Not for my car obviously, would like to know what it is from so I can offer it up.
Bucket says Twilight Headlamp, Guide, made in USA. It is about 9&1/8" outside diameter, and about 7" deep, shaped similar to '32. It has a mounting bracket fastened with 6 rivets to bucket, and the 3/8" carriage mounting bolt goes right through the bucket to inside where it is retained by a bent steel clip. The reflector is about 8&9/16" diameter, has two socket outlets, would take same shape/size sockets as for '31 Chevy (ie two prongs). Chrome rim is about 9&1/4' diameter, by 1' deep. Could it be Pontiac/Olds/etc or did Guide/Twilight make headlamp assemblies for other makes than GM/

From your description it sounds like a '33 bucket.Same shape as the '32 but two more rivets and the mounting plate is on the inside of the shell, whereas the '32 has the mtg plate outside the shell(bucket).

I have a bucket and it measures 8-9/16 inner dia-where the reflector mounts.I do not have the retaining ring but measuring the outer diameter where it mounts its about 9-1/8". The height with out the rim is 8". The rivets are 1-1/2" apart and the two rows 3" apart. The socket is centered between the rivets farthest from the front and the mounting stud about 1/2" forward of middle rivets.Hope this helps.

m006840, so close but no cigar yet. All dimensions are identical to mine, except the "height without the (t)rim". Yours measured 8", mine is shallower at 6&1/2"! Rivet spacing, socket, bolt location, and diameter are all identical to yours. Would you please double check the "height without (t)rim" as its not an easy measurement? I think we are so close to figuring this out. Thanks

I rechecked and still got the same measurement-8".Possibly another GM product of the same vintage, but not one I can identify.looks like you still have a mystery to solve!!

I wonder if it may be from a truck perhaps a '32, with a heftier bracket? OH well, I appreciate your help so far, seems we are closer to an answer. Unit is virtually identical to '33-'36 except for only being 6&1/2" deep instead of 8". This unit is also in Canada, wonder if they differed versus USA.

You might want to give a call to Burt Fulmore in Economy NS.When visiting him this past Fall I noticed the headlamps on his "Mapleleaf" truck were very similar to those on my 32.He may be familiar with what you have. Burt has a lot of knowledge of the old cars and is always willing to share it with others.

Burt is a great guy, lives about 60 miles away. He dropped by a year ago to assist me in trying to get my '31 Coach running. I must give him a call as his son lives about 4 miles from me and Burt drops down to visit regularly. Will let you know what transpires.
