Asking for more advice.
From my post earlier I got some great suggestions about working on my semi stuck 1928 4 cylinder engine.

1.I feel like I sould remove the head and check into the piston sleves for blockage
2.Remove the pan to clean out old oil sludge.
3.check for stuck valves when the head is off.
4.If the valves are rusty, take them to a shop and have the valves ground.
That should be enough for this weekend if it is sunny and warmer than it has been in the middle of Gods country.

I will need new gaskets. Any recomendations on where to go?
I also feel like I need to re-wire the truck. Would you folks recomend a new wiring harness?

Thanks

PJS

There are several suppliers for the gaskets. Best Gasket makes the set for most of our older Chevrolets. Any company that handles Best Gaskets can get them for you. Or you can get most of the needed parts from the Filling Station, Gary Wallace who are VCCA members.

I have used both Y&Z www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/ and Rhode Island Wiring Services www.riwire.com/ and recommend both.

I am putting a wiring harness in my 28 coach right now. under the hood and dash it was in perfect shape, but like most originals, it was totally shot from the front seat back although the conduit is still almost mint. All I can say is better safe than sorry. My 28 1 ton came from western Nebraska and is like a time capsule. It was also used to haul wheat and the engine pans and the tool box are still full of wheat chaff. That stuff really blows in the wind when the thresher is running. The wiring on that truck is nice up front also but has bad places going to the rear. Hate to replace the mostly original, but!!! sure hate to have a sooted up relic after the fire happens. I may save the old harnesses just to show anyone who may care in the future but since Dad was a fireman, well, you know.
