What were the choices of steering wheel colors in 1950 ? This one looks like it was brown and ivory. Maybe the ivory color was worn off. Were the choices just black and ivory / cream ?
Thanks for the help

If the 1950 is a Deluxe but not a convertible or BelAir the rim of the sheel is light gray (same as lower part of the dash.)....and the cross bar (between the chrome trims) is the dark gray like the top of the dash and steering column and shift lever.

for the 51
the Ditzler Color numbers are 444 Thistle gray
(lighter color) DAL-30873-DQE
(darker color) is Shadow Gray Poly Dal-30872-DQE its the 446 or 451 number I'm not sure on the 1951 chart they list three numbers on the left hand column.

If you end up going that route I bought Rust-oleums Metallic Brilliant metal finish in the can from Lowes in place of the shadow gray. Its REALLY convient since it is the same color as the trim, dash, heater etc. and you can always touch easily. My paint guy even thought it was a close enough match. Close enough for me!

But I would "Google" your year's color and go on ebay and buy a color chart to be sure of the numbers and you will have a chart to show the paint mixer. Made that mistake already by painting the door jams wrong (1953 color) the first time.

Anyone? whats the best way to get a flat spot out of the steering wheel, its not perfectly round at the bottom of the ring and what is a good material to use to fill in the cracks etc??
thanks

The above colors are very incorrect for a 1950.

Thanks to all for the steering wheel colors reply's. I thought my wheel had been a two color job.
As far as something good for filling cracks in the wheel...I used powdered acrylic and hardener from a beauty supply store. (it's for fake fingernails) It works great. You can pour the very fine powder down into the cracks then apply the liquid hardener with a small paint brush. Really hard and sand-able. You can also make a mixture and paint it on in layers then sand it. It comes in white and clear. I use the white because I can see it better.
