I have a friend in Ohio who owns a 1955 Bel Air Convertible. It is a later model small block with the "265" intake, distributor and coil.

His coil went bad, he bought a coil that is marked " internal resistor" only.

I know he had the external resistor to begin with ....how should he proceed from here?

Wire around the resistor and connect directly to the + on the coil.
