Does anyone have an idea on removing the steering wheel from the steering shaft without the puller shown in the repair manual? The steering wheel is in fairly good shape and I don't want to damage it by doing the wrong thing, which I have been known to do.

There is a topic last year which deals with using the two horn wire holes , after threading with a 10-32 UNF tap , and then using
a puller with a centre bolt to pull the steering off the steering shaft.

I am pretty sure that the topic is in the 1937-42 section.

You cam loosen the nut holding the steering wheel on and back it off flush with the end on the threads. Have someone pull on the steering wheel and hit the nut with a hammer. The wheel will pop loose. I've done it many times.

Well, I tapped the two holes, used a gear puller, and the wheel came right off. No problems. Thanks again for all of the advise.
