Hello out there. I have a '29 chevy coupe and recently obtained CAL 29 plates for it. However they appear to be commercial as the configuration is: 0A-000. I've seen several CAL 29 plates on the internet which read: 0A-00-00 which leads me to believe THIS is the correct configuration for a passenger car. I know DMV has the answer but I don't want to go there until Im ready to register vehicle into the new (correct) plates. On the other hand, most DMV employees aren't familiar with vintage vehicles/plates and may ALLOW me to reg. veh. with comm. plates... but I want passenger plates obviously, to be correct. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks, Dan

I can't anser your question but I can suggest you make a registration appointment with your nearby DMV office. Be ready to register it on the spot. I registered mine with '29 Cal plates a year or so ago. The employee will look up the number to be sure it isn't being used. That is probably your biggest concern. Won't take but an hour or two of your time.

I used to try to call the official year-of-manufacture hot line but never got through!

Let us know when you've got those plates on.
