Ken,

I just did a google thing for 74 chevy estate wagon. Didn't find anything. Altho I did notice your stationwagonforums posts from last Fall.

Good luck in your search. Keep the faith. Stranger things have happened....

Bill.

Interesting that someone would be searching for such a car. No offense, but the model reminds me of the wagon Chevy Chase's character and family was riding around in the movie, National Lampoon's Vacation.

Long way to travel, but here's something close...in France, it looks like:

'74 Caprice Estate for sale

Im not sure that one is for sale. My french isnt that good. I thing that was a listing of the styles and options available for that year.

I learned to drive in that car, first car we had that passed 100,000 miles. Lot of good memories, 400 small block with 4V carb and turbo 400 trans. I love the 74 model year, and yes the clamshell wagon even more. Hated the opera window coupes, the lost someting from 73 and before. Drop tops are nice but they are all overpriced.

Yes did go the stationwagon forums route. Missed one by about 3 months from what I was told. Man in Michigan had one right colors, but had a buick 455 in it. He said he would have swithced it back for me, but didnt matter car was gone.

And the thing is I wont substitue a 73 or 75-76 they just arent the same. The 75 caprice was a let down on style and the 76 almost got it back. 74 was the best.

I think this will be one of those unfulfilled desires.

You can do a Google search for Craigslist ads for that car. Every so often one will pop up. Since Craigslist doesn't have a nationwide search option...

Go to Google, then type in: 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Estate, Craigslist

Check back in a few weeks to see if there's any new ones posted up. That's the best way I've been able to find obscure parts & cars for sale.

Yes the annoying feature of Craigslist is not being able to do a nationwide search. Seems very silly to me but it is what it is. I missed two 74 Caprice Converts on Craigslist. Sometimes its a little better than ebay for finding stuff.

More Craig's list aggravation (at least for me) about Criag's list is the apparent need to type in a search that exactly matches the lister's item.

Type in 54 Chev Bel Air and if the lister typed in 1954 Chevy Bel Air you'll never find his listing.

Bummer.....

Bill.
