Every forum I've ever been on had, at one time or another ,a post asking to see each others cars, I know some of you already know that, but some of us newer guys would love to see who owns what car. Whata think?

Well a picture of the old gal is always over there at my left side Steve. A bigger picture wouldn’t do her any justice. I approach this hobby kind of ars backwards, I’m not real hung up on shiny paint and such right now, I won’t say that I haven’t cleaned things up enough to make her presentable but she sure isn’t wearing her Sunday best. I’ve kept my focus mostly on what you don’t see because that’s usually the most ignored and abused area of an old vehicle. The result is that I can take her out on a couple hundred-mile trip and not have to worry that she’ll break down and have to be carried home.

A great idea!! I like that at the ChevyTalk site the 49-54's have it posted as a sticky, and I'm surprised the other years don't as well. The next best thing to the banter and information on this site is the pictures of all those beautiful Chevies!!

This is really strange. I've never seen this happen before now. Usually guys can't wait for an excuse to brag or show their cars off. Is it that the cars are not finished to the correct stage and they want to surprise us? I've seen forums criticize guys for hogging the forum by showing their cars over and over.

I’m on the lookout for a future project car and I was building up your ‘38 this morning and I showed my “big old wife” that picture of Sweetie. Need I tell you what the reaction was! But when she saw how she looks now she perked right up and said go for it.
Love that car Richard!

I think part of the answer is that when real nice vehicles are posted, some folks,(myself included) feel intimidated by these nice photos and won't post pictures of their own cars.I enjoy looking at the pictures of all the cars, nice or in progress, but,I'm not too keen on showing everyone my not so great(by my standards)vehicles. There is only so much you can do with "twenty footers" and that is all my cars will ever be.I came into this hobby way too late to be able to afford to restore a car to the level that I have seen here and I just don't have the ability to do the work myself. When I joined VCCA,I thought I might fit in,but, alas this is a rich man's hobby now.For all the old timers who got in before everything went through the roof price wise-count your blessingas!

Yes..I agree it's a rich mans hobby. There is no limit to how much money you could spend on these old cars. Here's the good news..everyone is not interested in having the perfect car. If a shift knob or radio doesn't fit into the correct car scheme of things, that will be just fine. Restore your car as much as you can and to your budget. I'm sure the ratio of owners are on your side. Everyone is not into being absolutely correct. Enjoy your car! Very few guys have the money to just spend unlimited amounts of cash on an old chevy. I enjoy seeing old chevys at any stage of being restored. It's easier to talk about old cars that everyone can enjoy rebuilding. Just my 2 cents. Happy Motoring

A photo of a "twenty footer" in most cases looks just as nice as a photo of a "trailer queen". All of my vehicles are in the twenty footer to five thousand piece category. If truth be known the majority of vehicles in the VCCA are in the same categories as mine.

These views and opinions sure do make me smile. Thanks.

Denny G. I like your philosophy. I also like Mike's, Bill's, Ken's, Tiny's and the others. Different strokes for different folks. Good for us I say...

Now since ya-all are being honest I will openly admit to being anal retentive about my 41. Not the nicest 41 around, but I like it. As I've said before, the car hobby may be the only one where being anal retentive is viewed as valuable or at least understandable.

Enjoy the ride,
Michael41

Gilbert, Think about all the people who would like to have a old car and don't, you do. The fun is it doesn't have to be a show car, You can still go to car shows and meet a lot of real nice people. most shows even have a class for cars being under construction. I attend shows to meet people, tell story's,some time whoppers, some times true. I very seldom enter my car for judging. The thing is to have fun, meet fun people and not worry about your car being perfect. Just make sure you have GOOD tires and good BREAKS. Go and just have fun thats what this hobby is all about.....

Yes! Now I have an excuse why I've only got this far on my truck despite working on it since I was 15. Working part time for minimum wage is not exactly conducive to old car restoration. Of course I don't have a phone or tv or home internet and I wear worn out clothes so most money I make does go into the truck.

Yes it is Toronto Blue. Got this car when I was 14 as a father son project 30 years later and walla it's done. We got it from an old neighbor of my dads family up on the farm my dad used to get rides to school in this car when "Leo" would hall his milk cans to town in the trunk. Yes it took a while to get it done. When I got my drivers license it kinda took a back seat to the cooler "chick magnet" Camaro so that car got me my wife and then the kids came so it took the back seat again for a while Now that my daughter is in college and my son is the age I was when we got the car I was finaly able to finish the car with my dad.

That thing is looking great!!!!! I had to wait until I was well out of school to even begin to start my restoration and even then it took me 8 years to afford and complete it. Your chassis looks fantastic!!!

I personally love all types of old cars in any condition. My first choice with my truck was to just get it running and enjoy it. Once I got into it I quickly realized that it was far too gone to do that and next thing you know........

Anyhow, I cant wait to see your truck!

I don't think its ever too late to start anything new in life'
As far as a rich man's hobby I would have to question that?
I myslef am not a rich $$$ person, We all have to position ourselves in life so that we can enjoy it with out some of the hardships that are ever present for all of us' All my cars are old and are 20footers' or more and I like them that way' I can only speak for myself, but as a fellow VCCA member if I can ever be of any assistance to you, all you have to do is ask'
I think as members we all can help one another in some form?
Remember a true rich man is the one with most freinds and not the amount of money or things that he or she has"
We all must be happy with what we have while working for what we want.
Happy motoring'
