If you are going with JC Whitney (which I did with my 52 Bel Air Hardtop, the catalog differentiates between front and rear seat belts. Not having the catalog handy, I believe the longer seat belts were for the front. We are very happy with ours, we went with the flip-up latch as well. Keeps the best look for the vintage. P.S. Just registered and this is my first post.

I had my mechanic install them. He reinforced the floor at the mounting points as a "just in case". Belt mounting points go straight back and down to the floor, keeping in mind that you don't use one bolt for two belts. Can't wait to get back on the road in the spring.

I just crawled under my 52 and found that, for the front seat belts, my mechanic drill the mounting holes through a crossbeam approximately where the back of the front seat it. He put the bolts through, and used LARGE washers to help distribute and possible stresses that may occur in the event of a collision. Washers were about two inches across. For the rear seat belts he drilled through the floor just to the back of the seat and used the large washers as well. That part of the floor was very solid (his words), and there should be no issues. Hope this helps.
