I own a 1942 Chevrolet G506 1.5 ton military truck. The truck came with a 235cid engine and 4 speed non syncro transmission. The engine was updated to a 1955-57 235cid but still has the orginal trans. I would like to update the trans to a syncro unit, however i do not want to modify linkages etc. Is there a snycro out there that will bolt in.

The most practical transmission to use would be the SM420 4-speed that was used in GM trucks from 1948-66. It is not a bolt-in, it requires the bell-housing from a 1948-66 Chevrolet truck. Jim Carter in Independance, MO sells them for $185 that have been modified for the brake/clutch pedal mounting. And you could have to modify the drive shaft to mount it to the back of the trans.
