Im intrested to see what the chevrolet guy's responces are concerning the installation of an overdrive unit in an all original (and i do mean genuine '32 original) confederate deluxe 2 door sedan. It's a R-10 Warner overdrive that came from a T-86 3 speed tranny unit that i have rebuilt and am intrested in having it installed into the drive line of the '32 to kick down high R.P.M. on the highway for road trips, ect. Im thinking about this all in good intention for only helping the car. It will be installed professionally, rest assured. That has all been squared away for future arangements but i just wanted to see how the "all original" chevy guys would respond to this. Im all original myself but again, thinking for only helping cut back on high R.P.M.'s. And it's not like you will actually see the overdrive unit or know that it's there ti'll you look under neath or pull the engage. Another bright side is that i would have an additional 3 gears in theory to a 6 speed. I'd have 3 standard and 3 in overdrive. The standard for use on small public roads.
Even though this is a real option for the future, im still not jumping on it as a "do it now" thing. But it is a real tempting thought. Right now i can have it done were as years later, maybee not. Or maybee so but it would cost me twice as much. If not, triple. Again, thoughts?

Thank you. I may do that instead. Do you have his contact info? And are these kits specially made for chevy? There not ford transplants are they? Becouse i look on ebay and all i find in 3.50 gears is ford stuff.

Im not a member of VCCA. It sounds intresting but im just not into subscribing to magazines and such like i use to be.
Thank you to n2chev for the contact info. I shall contact larry. Before i do though, may i ask how much a kit runs? And how much of a diference in change do you experience when you put the 3.50 kit in?

Sorry, that you have the wrong perception about " VCCA, The Best Chevrolet Car club on the planet !" We are much more than a magazine subscription, if you want to be in an all volunteer active family oriented car club with great events that also provide a social atmosphere between the best folks that you could ever meet. You get all the benefits of National and Regional memberships for what the usual car magazine subscription will cost, plus we have excellent monthly regional newsletters.
The change that you will experiance would be to the ratio of 4.11/3.50 A increased MPH with the same engine RPM. 60 MPH with a 4.11 changed to a 3.50 will yield 70MPH at the same RPM.

WELL! I talked to Larry Jackson just now (very nice gentleman by the way) and things are in the works to getting myself a 3.50.1 gear set. If i remember correctly, he told me listing will start aprox. June of this year to have a order sent in for making the gears. If everything fly's, i will be on that list. I thank you gentleman (n2chevy & Junkyarddog) for bringing larry to my attention. Now i dont think i will do that ungodly overdrive. BUT, least i'll have one for perhaps another vehicle. This site is without a doubt, the best chevy site on the net. Im also thinking highly on subscribing to VCCA.
