Does anyone have personal experience as to whether or not you can remove the oil pan from a 327" in a '62 Nova without having to lift the engine up or remove the steering linkage?
From underneath it looks possible? Hoping someone has been there and done it.
Thanks for any input and feedback.

I understand what you say, but sometimes the "real" hands-on experience can provide more accurate info. or even some shortcuts people have learned, which is why I posted it that way.

Thanks everyone. And, Joe, the guy that put the 327" in did not use the shorter oil pump/distributor shaft rod, so the distributor sits up about a 1/4" too high, and it is preventing oil to flow through to the lifter and rocker arms.
Which is the reason that I'm pulling the pan to put the shorter rod in. I did see an earlier email that you had sent to another guy, and it made me check it out.
Thanks to all, as usual!

O.K. all, all I had to do was loosen the idler arm, let it drop down, loosen the starter bolts to let you move the starter over slightly, and the pan will come right out..took about an hour total time...
Thanks again to all the input,
Bob
